The Advantage of Simplicity: AIO cloth diapers

It's been quite a while since I posted about cloth diapers, ie. the whole reason I first started this blog. I shared with you earlier that I plan to start writing about them again, though. At least occasionally.

The Advantage of Simplicity: AIO cloth diapers
When I first started using cloth diapers, I decided to go with a less expensive option - a mix of pocket diapers and covers with inserts. I honestly didn't mind stuffing the pockets every time I did laundry. Well, for the first year or so, I didn't mind.

Little more than a year after I first started using cloth, I bought enough All In One Diapers to completely replace my whole stash. My husband's response was "Why didn't we use these in the first place?"

All in ones (AIOs) are great because they're simple. You don't have to worry about matching inserts, stuffing pockets, or having to pull soiled inserts from the pocket before tossing it all into your diaper pail. AIOs are generally pretty trim, and they're simple to use (great for people not familiar with cloth diapers). They have an absorbent inner with a waterproof outer cover - all in one. They're available in organic fabrics as well as stay-dry options, too.

My favorite two AIO's are the BumGenius Elemental and the BumGenius Freetime. I was able to get an amazing deal on my collection, but it can be a little spendy if you're buying new and hoping to start from scratch.

Not too long ago, Diaper Rite came out with their own AIO. Based on my experience with the Diaper Rite pockets, I would definitely recommend giving these a try. In fact, if I needed to start over, I would definitely go with these. Right now, you can even get a great deal on some factory seconds that are being clearanced on Diaper Junction for just under $12. AWESOME deal in my estimation.

Do you have a favorite all in one cloth diaper? Have you tried the new Diaper Rite version yet? Any requests on cloth diaper topics you'd like me to cover here on the blog?
