My #DisneySide @ Home Celebration

I was super excited when I got the news months ago that I was selected to host a DisneySide @ Home Celebration. Then the kids and I took turns being sick for a couple months, you might remember. It's a little difficult hosting a party when people you're responsible for taking care of are vomiting. (Also, stressful and not fun to deal with WITHOUT a party to plan.)

Still, we were very excited! This is the kids unboxing our #DisneySide package with all the goodies sent to help us out with the party:

In the end, we decided to do something super fun, but super simple. G had seen the movie Big Hero 6 in the theater with my husband and LOVED it. When his birthday rolled around last month, a friend gifted him the DVD. What better way to celebrate our Disney Side than with a screening party of one of our newest Disney favorites?!!

You know what those tissues are for if you've seen the movie!

We have tons of Disney costumes in our house -- princesses, as well as Marvel super heroes. (Yes, those are Disney now, too.) So one thing we did was set up a photo area where you could don a mask or entire costume. Or not. Thanks to the HP photo paper we were provided, we were also able to print pictures right away for everyone!

The backdrop was created using tablecloths from the dollar store. I cut them in strips, leaving the tops intact. Then I taped them to the top of the wall. Standing on a stool, I braided the tablecloths together several inches down to give a little more texture, and so you could actually see all three colors. It was a great effect for very little money. In the future, I might use an additional set to layer, for an even fuller appearance and less chance of the wall showing through after 3 year olds "hide behind the curtain" for the umpteenth time.

I kept the treats fairly simple. Mini buckets of mini M&M's, a popcorn cake, and hand mixed malted shakes - which sounds more complicated than it is!

You probably noticed a few NON-edible treats in the pictures as well! Disney sent a few things for us to share (THANK YOU, DISNEY!), but I found the dollar store was an awesome resource for additional Disney items.

All in all, we had pencils, Palace Pets, nail polish, card games, and these sweet notebook sets the kids loved.

When it was all said and done, we kept things pretty low key, but you really don't have to go all out, spending lots of money and whatnot to share and celebrate your Disney Side with your friends and family.
